So you’re trying to cool down and watch Netflix on your Samsung Smart TV, but you’re running into problems? Never fear, as there are several ways to remedy your streaming woes. If you use the Netflix app installed directly on your television, here are some ways to get up and running again.

Unplug your television
This is basically another way to say “Have you tried turning it off and on?” Simply unplug your television for at least two minutes and plug it back in.
Additionally, you can try restarting your television, especially if you’re noticing your TV freezes when trying to launch the application. This works similarly to a soft reset on a smartphone, where all applications are closed and any data in the device RAM is cleared. To do this, unplug your TV for at least a minute and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds. Plug your TV back in and open Netflix.
Sign out of Netflix
This tactic sounds easy but isn’t as straight forward. In order to sign out of Netflix, you’ll have to input the following sequence on your TV remote: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up.
From there you’ll receive the options to Sign Out, Start Over, or Deactivate. Sign out and then sign back in.
This method usually works on smartphones, so there’s no reason we should dismiss it as a viable option for your Samsung Smart TV. To uninstall Netflix, press the Home button on your remote and navigate to Apps. Select the cog at the top right of your television for Options, find and select Netflix, then select Delete.
To reinstall Netflix, navigate back to the Smart Hub and select the magnifying glass. Search for Netflix and reinstall the app once found.
Other things to look for:
- Check if your Samsung Smart TV is connected to the internet.
- Check your router settings.
- Review your streaming plan (is it current? how many simultaneous streams does it support?)
- Make sure your TV has the most up-to-date firmware (Menu > Support > Software Update)
Reset Smart Hub
Another method is to reset the smart hub where your apps live. This method is a little extreme, as it’ll remove all your apps, and logins, and you’ll have to re-download them and log back in, so use this method as a last resort if all else fails.
In order to complete the reset, you’ll have to exit the Smart Hub. On your remote select Menu > Smart Hub > Smart Hub Reset (you may receive a warning that this will erase all your apps). You’ll then be prompted to enter your PIN, which is set to 0000 by default (if this does not work, you’ll have to contact Samsung). Once the reset is complete, navigate back to your Smart Hub and try Netflix again. Be patient as the app may take some time to finish setting up.
With any luck, the first few methods should be enough to get you up and running again on your binge. If all else fails, you can always fall back to streaming wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
