iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have arrived, starting at $699

It’s the big day, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are here! What, it’s not a big deal? Oh that’s right, most folks are waiting out for the iPhone X. Still, if you’re turned off by the X’s high price tag or its radical redesign, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are very much worthy of your consideration.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus aren’t a massive departure from the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, but they do offer a few important changes. Here’s what you need to know about the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus:

Metal gets swapped for glass. While the iPhone 8 series looks similar to its predecessor, this time metal gets replaced with a glass back. This wasn’t just about giving it a refreshed design, it also makes it possible for Apple to offer wireless charging for the first time in its history. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus support Qi wireless charging, the same standard we see in most Android device.

The iPhone 8 series offers plenty of spec improvements. The Apple A11 Bionic chipset is said to be 30% faster than the A10 found in the iPhone 7, there’s also an improved 12MP camera, support for LTE Advanced, Bluetooth 5, and stereo speakers that Apple claims are 25 percent louder than the iPhone 7.

The 32GB iPhone is no more. When it comes to storage options, the base model is now 64GB, with just one upgrade option in the 256GB version.

The iPhone 8 starts at $699, the iPhone 8 Plus at $799. From there, pricing goes up dramatically depending on storage and other options. You have the option of getting it in Silver, Space Gray, and Gold.
