🌅 Good morning! Hope your Halloween hangover isn’t too bad. And happy Blade Runner month! November 2019 also means Black Friday (already, in some weird cases), Google Stadia, and a Motorola Razr...
Programming note: DGiT Daily will be off Monday for maintenance - back Tuesday!
Motorola’s flip-phone-folding-screen Razr has been pretty extensively revealed, in more than 10 leaked images, via Evan Blass and Dutch tech site Mobiel Kopen.
Unsurprisingly, it looks like a Razr device from yesteryear, but thicker, and still looks pretty good? Here’s a bunch of the images, and the rest can be found here.
What we can see:
📺 Apple TV+ shows and movies premiere today. Early reviews of series like The Morning Show haven’t exactly been raving but it’s hard to argue on the $5/month price, for now (Engadget).
📶 China’s networks have started widescale 5G availability today, months ahead of schedule, starting at $18 a month, and the US and most other places are years behind (WaPo).
🕵️♂️ You can now cover your tracks in Google Maps thanks to incognito mode (Android Authority) - give it a few days if you don’t see it on your device just yet (I don’t, yet).
🍑 Sexual use of emoji is banned from Facebook, Instagram (Android Authority).
🥛 Hackers able to unlock smartphones by lifting fingerprints off a drinking glass (Android Authority).
🤔 Where exactly is 'Reopen Closed Tab' in Chrome 78? (ZDNet). (I have muscle-memory on shift+ctrl+t on Windows and command+shift+t on Mac for reopening closed tabs, which is thankfully just about the same spots on a keyboard.)
🏡 “I accidentally uncovered a nationwide scam on Airbnb” (Vice). Great investigation, but the kicker is that Airbnb has little reason to uncover or remove scams, because people keep using Airbnb despite the problems.
🔫 There’s skyrocketing demand for bulletproof cars, and that includes in the US (Bloomberg).
🔥 Inside Hot Ones, the wildly popular and violently spicy YouTube show (The Verge).
🆕 Hideo Kojima’s post-Metal Gear game Death Stranding is a big new release, and reviews are saying it’s long, bizarre, breathtaking, and boring (The Verge). There’s nothing quite like a Hideo Kojima game, and that is enough for most people.
👃 Here’s what happens when you leave marijuana up your nose for 18 years (Ars Technica).
🖐 Is there a reason why our fingers are all different lengths? (r/nostupidquestions).
Demonslay335, the ransomware superhero of Normal, Illinois (ProRepublica).
There is hope!
