The idea of bringing smarts to electronics is nothing new, with smart phones largely kicking off the trend in the early 2000s (or earlier if you want to get technical) and plenty of other products like speakers and televisions joining the mix more recently. And now in the pursuit of making every object in the world smart, water bottles have become the latest victim. Yes, smart water bottles are now a thing.

Whether it’s playing your tunes at the gym or regulating the temperature of your beverage, there are a number of smart water bottles for every type of consumer. So which is the best for you? Stick around as we explore all the best options.

Hydra Smart Bottle

smart water bottle

As a standard method of water containment, the Hydra Smart Bottle can hold up to 600ml at any given time. While that isn’t the largest capacity water bottle in the world, there are quite a few extra features that make this water bottle special.

The Hydra Smart Bottle has a bluetooth speaker built right in, meaning you can jam to your favorite tunes while working out. While it’s probably best to use headphones when you’re somewhere like the gym, this is a great feature for those that want to bring this bottle with them on a picnic or hike. There is also a microphone built right in, so you should be able to make calls and activate voice commands on it as well. That’s the future for you — conference calls from a water bottle!

One of the most interesting features of the Hydra Smart Bottle is the 4 LED options that is has for users. It can shine quite brightly in these 4 different color options, so you can use it for all kinds of different scenarios. Use red for emergencies, white to find your lost items, or anything else you can think of.

In addition, there is a 4,000mAh battery built into the side of the bottle, which can be used as a backup battery for the bluetooth speaker or can charge any external device. This bottle really is more of a utility item, and should be an amazing addition to anyone’s everyday carry. You can pick it up for about $59.99 on Amazon.

H20Pal Smart Bottle

smart water bottle

The HydroPal Smart Bottle doesn’t have a ton of features, but what it does have it does very well. The bottle works as a hydration tracker, logging every ounce of water you ingest over the day. The bottle will track all your water through their native app, and can send you notifications throughout the day to remind you to drink more.

The app also features a personalized hydration goal that will help you to drink more water on a daily basis, and can even connect to Fitbit and Apple Fitness to help track all that information in your favorite app.

This bottle looks much more like a traditional water bottle than many of the other options on this list, but H2OPal is charging quite a premium for this fact. Their option will run you a hefty $97.74 on Amazon, but most of the customers say this price is well worth it.

SmartShow Smart Cup S1

The SmartShow Cup S1 is a hydration tracker like many of the other options on this list, but it also has some other cool features that make it worth picking up.

The Smart Cup S1 can tell you the temperature of your drink simply by touching the lid, warning you as to not burn your mouth on the liquid. It will also tell you how much water is left in the bottle, so you’re not left guessing if there is any liquid to actually drink. In addition, the screen is able to tell you the purity level of the water you are drinking, so you do’t accidentally consume water that could be physically harmful.
The Smart Cup S1 features wireless charging, sitting on an inductive base in order to stay juiced up. The company says the bottle will charge to full capacity within 10 minutes, and should last a whole day on a single charge.
The bottle is very durable and made with a colorful rubber coating, so you can take hot drinks with you without worrying about burning your hand. You can pick it up in blue, yellow, or white for $69.00.

Gululu Interactive Water Bottle for Kids

Getting kids to drink enough water on a daily basis is quite a challenge. With all the sugary drinks on the market, it’s difficult to get them to actually want water. So how do you make them interested? Make it a game, of course! The Gululu bottle allows kids to choose their own interactive character to use, which will prompt them to drink more throughout the day. They can rack up points for staying hydrated, and can compete against their friends for the highest score.

The bottle allows parents to track how much water their kids have consumed throughout the day, and even gives the ability to set up parental controls that limit the interactive features when kids need to be sleeping or concentrating.

The bottle charges via a wireless charging dock, and is coated in a shock absorbing layer to keep it from breaking when dropped. You can pick up the Gululu Interactive water bottle on Amazon for $129.

Trago Smart Water Bottle

Looking for a water bottle with accurate hydration metering? The Trago Smart Bottle was made to ensure that you meet your daily water consumption goals based on multiple factors, including body type, outside weather, and more.

The Trago Smart Bottle can keep liquid cold for hours, and uses double wall vacuum sealed technology to maintain a consistent temperature for your favorite drinks. The stainless steel construction is robust enough for almost every situation, and should be safe anywhere you go. The bottle will even count how many plastic bottles you’ve saved over time, making you feel better about saving the environment.

The bottle can hook into almost any fitness app, including Fitbit, Google Fit, Apple Health, Under Armor Record and more. If you’re looking for a no-frills smart bottle that does its core functions exceedingly well, the Trago Smart Bottle is a fantastic choice.

You can pick it up for $69.99 on Amazon.

Ember Temperature Controlled Mug

While this may be more geared towards coffee or tea, the Ember temperature controlled smart mug can be used for just about any liquid you can imagine. Ember says their mug can keep your drink at an exact regulated temperature for up to 2 hours while unplugged, or for eternity if set on the charging coaster.

The mug doesn’t have any physical buttons to mess with, just a dial which can be used to change the temperature of the drink it is holding. You can also regulate the temperature with the included app, which gives you additional options like setting notifications, naming your mug, and more.

The Ember Smart Mug even works with your Apple watch to allow you to change temperature on the fly, so you can adjust your settings remotely without opening your phone. It has a minimum temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit and caps out at a maximum of 145 degrees.

You can pick up the Ember Smart Mug on Amazon for $149.95.
