Any hardcore PC gamer knows the PC gaming experience is about more than just playing games. It’s a way of life, its own subculture. That means getting a kickass machine with specs so juicy your friends (and enemies) can’t help but envy you. It’s also about flashy designs, lights and other cosmetic elements that help your rig stand out. Isn’t it about time your chair conveys that same sense of power? Acer seems to think so. At IFA 2018 the company took the veil off the Acer Predator Thronos, and it’s both amazing and ridiculous at the same time.
The Thronos isn’t just a chair, it’s a massive metallic beast that weighs over 485 pounds, is made of steel, and has a motorized cockpit for adjusting up to three 27-inch gaming monitors and a built-in stand for your gaming PC. Basically, this is the chair you buy if you have a hell of a lot of disposable income and an entire room that you can devote to your gaming rig. In other words, it’s an extremely niche product. But it’s also one we can help but drool over a little.
Aside from just being a chair, this thing also lights up, can vibrate in sync with your games, reclines up to 140 degrees, and even has a built-in footrest. Because why not?
Alongside the Acer Predator Thronos, Acer also announced two new 27-inch monitors, the Predator XB273K and the Nitro XV273K. The former has a resolution of 3840×2160 and sports G-Sync technology, DisplayHDR 400 certification, and a 144Hz refresh rate. It’ll set you back $1,299. The Nitro is comparatively more affordable at $899.
Acer isn’t telling us pricing for their epic new gaming chair just yet, which means the Acer Predator Thronos is probably going to be extremely expensive. Of course, if you’re the kind of person that has three 27-inch gaming monitors and a gaming PC… that’s probably not going to stop you.
